Have you ever thought about why you do what you do?
With all of the talk about new years resolutions and starting fresh, my mind wanders into visionary mode. I begin to think about 2013 and where I want to be 6 to 12 months from now. What do I want to be different about me? What do I want to accomplish this year? What mission am I on right now?
Where am I headed as an individual? Where is my family headed? And why do we do all of the things that we do? To what end?
Do I even know what my mission is? How do I accomplish it?
It is so easy to run through life without giving much thought as to where we are going. We get up, go to work, run the kids, meet some friends. It can be non-stop sometimes. When we are always go go go all of the time it is easy to lose our way because we forget where we were headed when we started out. I am not asking you to stop and smell the roses. I just want you to think about why you do all that you do. How does each event and relationship play into your mission in life? Are you on mission or have you gotten off track?
My mission in life is about helping to build the Kingdom of God. Jesus commanded us to go and make disciples. I am still trying to figure out the best way for me to do that. Investing in people is how you build the kingdom of God. I start at home with my wife and my kids. These guys are my core circle of disciples. I will never have this much influence over anyone else. So while I think about what I want to accomplish in 2013, my family plays a big factor.
What is your mission? Are you being intentional about that mission in 2013?
